New Price, $3000 off – Owner wants the boat sold!
Runaway II’, a beautiful and delightful above-average coastal cruiser by Pearson Yachts that makes the most of it’s 30′ 3” length, and available now in Seattle, WA.
Designer, Bill Shaw, did an excellent job of disguising the wide beam and considerable interior main cabin head room (6’3”) into a modest 30 foot length costal cruiser without the boat feeling boxy as many would expect. Tastefully designed with higher freeboard to reduce cabin top height and accommodate more maneuverable deck space, the boat is a pleasure to be aboard and has beautiful lines with solid teak accents that will have you looking back again, and again.
The Pearson 303 hull is uncored with an internal lead ballast keel, so there are no keel bolts. And like many typical cruising/racer sailboats, the Pearson 303 has a fairly shoal keel that draws just 4’4”. The rudder is skeg-mounted, adding bearing support to the rudder and may help protect the rudder in a collision with an underwater object. The keel-stepped mast is another good design to this boat, ensuring a strong and stable spar. And the entire deck is balsa end-grain cored for sturdy structural support.
Below deck, the interior has a rich amount of oiled teak to highlight the cabinets and storage space, which is ample for a 30-footer; three drawers in the galley, a bureau in the forecabin, a hanging locker to port midship, stowage behind both settees and a wide chart table with chart bins. The private forecabin has a duel-fold door for privacy, is well lit, tall and well ventilated (two opening port lights + a large hatch for dropping the spinnaker! Moving aft, the wash cabin is encapsulated in fiberglass which is appropriate to prevent any water saturating into the bulkheads or cabin sole. Midship a convertible settee to double berth is starboard and a single berth to port. Below the companionway is a port corner galley with two-burner stovetop, single sink and deep icebox. to Starboard is a large forward facing chart table with mounted radar and a near double berth aft.
‘Runaway II’ is outfitted with amenities and accessories that will keep a skipper and crew comfortable and safe. Noteworthy items include:
- Raytheon SL70 Pathfinder Radar
- Mercury inflatable Dinghy
- Pressure water
- Two GPS displays
- Full Sailing Inventory (Main, Genoa, Spinnaker, Drifter)
- Bronze seacocks
- 6’3” of interior headroom and sleeping for up to 6 crew!
- Stainless steel lifelines with pelican clips and a S/S swim ladder on the stern
While its easy to overlook the Pearson 303 as another sailboat in the cruising fleet that looks similar to other sailboats, the 303 is a wholesome family cruiser/racer with a coastal pedigree hull design, workable and traditional interior layout, above-average sailing performance and overbuilt construction.
